Traditional MarriageNepal is rich in cultural, diversity with different traditions, cultures and rituals weeding, one of the most important social functions in Nepal varies according to ethnic groups and castes. However, it reveals the very strong and mutual values of Nepali people.
In Nepal traditionally in the remote area boys and girls are married in their tender age without knowing each other that is arranged by the priest. Arranged marriage is in practice in Nepal but love marriage is gaining much popularity much acceptance nowadays with the modernization of societies.
The weeding begins with the gathering of the travelling party at the groom’s house where celebrations are made and rituals are performed. One of the most important event is that groom puts a pinch of red colored powder called "Sindur” on the bride’s forehead which symbolizes them to be husband and wife. The bride after begin handled to the groom by her parents will then travel to groom’s house to become a member of his family’s household.
