Silkish Trek:

Makalu Trekking

Silkish Trek is spectacular short trek also now as “Royal Trek” that probes an uncrowned corner of the Annapurna Conservation Area under the shadows of Lamjung Himal and Annapurna III and IV. These short trek transverses a variety of terrain from low land villages and rice terraces up to 3000 meters where the biggest Gurung (Gurkhas) village resides. This excellent trek takes about a week starting at Begnas Lake heading north to the Madi Khola and then following the river’s west bank up to the well preserved Siklesh, Nepal biggest Gurung Village. From here, you move westwards over the thickly forested ridge that separates over the Madi and Seti Khola drainage and then descent via. Ghachok, another Gurung settlement to reach the Pokhara by Baglung Highway. Variations in the routes we called this as “Royal Trek” after a rally of the troops of Prince Charles took through the area in 1980 to visit the villages of Gurkha recruits as a part of an effort to develop into model eco trekking route.
