Kaligandaki River Rafting

Kaligandaki River Rafting

Kaligandaki is a flat and braided river flowing in an arid open valley, the explorer Michel Peissel ran this stretch of the river in a small hovercraft in 1973 and at a least two other groups have rafted and kayaked this section. At Kalopani, the river drops of the roof of the world and cuts off the deepest gorges in the world between Dhaulagiri (8167m) to the west and Annapurna (8091m) to the East. This gorge is one of ancient trading route gradient eases and the river is runnable from upstream of Beni. The Kaligandaki is named after the goddess Kali and is considered particularly Holy River, an auspicious place to be cremated and every river confluence is dotted with a cremation sites and burial mounds. This river is also bears gold with several groups of gold workers who sluice and pan the gravels of river beds. It is also the best place for its picturesque view of bird watching and animals watching like monkeys, leopards, mangoes and so on.
